The Pinnacle Family
There was originally only one "PowerStep Pinnacle" insole: the PowerStep Pinnacle. This product was complemented by a lineup of other insoles, many of which shared a very similar "base" profile to the Pinnacle, but with slight differences (one style might be wide, while another offered metatarsal support, etc.). Between 2019-2021, PowerStep made the decision to gradually rebrand these similar, variation-on-a-theme products to all include the name "Pinnacle," thus starting the Pinnacle family of insoles.
The Pinnacle Insoles are based on the original PowerStep Pinnacle Insole and feature firm arch support combined with a moderate amount of cushioning throughout. This way, they provide moderate-to-maximum foot support in addition to moderate pressure relief and cushioning, all in a profile that is suitable for use in all but the tightest-fitting shoes.
Product | Difference from the Standard Pinnacle |
Pinnacle High | Higher arch support more suitable for high-arched feet. |
Pinnacle Low | Lower arch support more suitable for low-arched & flat feet. |
Pinnacle Plus | Built-in metatarsal pad. |
Pinnacle Maxx | More rigid arch support plus a heel post for increased foot stability. |
Pinnacle 3/4 | 3/4-length design. |
Pinnacle Wide | Wide width. |
Pinnacle Dress (& Dress 3/4) | Faux-leather top material. |
Pinnacle Memory Foam | Memory foam cushioning. |
Pinnacle Wool | Wool top material. |
Pinnacle Hiker | Heavy-duty foam for increased durability. |
Pinnacle Heat Moldable | Heat-moldable for a custom-fit feel. |

Unique (non-Pinnacle) Insoles
In addition to the Pinnacle line of insoles, PowerStep also offers a handful of other insoles whose designs aren't quite suitable for the "Pinnacle" namesake. This doesn't mean that these insoles are "lesser" in any way — in fact, some of my two personal favorite insoles are on this list — but rather, they deviate from the "firm support, moderate cushioning" profile that has come to define the Pinnacle lineup.
Many of these insoles offer more flexible arch support, a thinner overall profile (for use in tighter-fitting shoes), or are designed for specialty uses (such as for high heels). Below, we'll list these various products and outline when you would want to consider these over the Pinnacle insoles.
Product | When to Use vs. the Pinnacle |
Original | Tighter-fitting footwear. This item has a noticeably slimmer profile (and less cushioning) compared to the Pinnacle, allowing them to be used in tighter-fitting shoes. |
Bridge | Athletic arch support. The foam material used provides excellent shock absorption and is incredibly lightweight, making them better for sports & athletics. |
ComfortLast | Flexible, cushioned arch support & pressure relief. The arch support of the ComfortLast is fully flexible, and the body is made of a mix gel-like and memory-foam-like materials, offering gently support & maximum cushioning. |
SlenderFit | High heels. The Slenderfit's 3/4-length design, flexible ball-of-foot cushion, and overall shape is designed first and foremost to work best in high-heeled footwear. |
Children's Insoles
PowerStep also offers supports for children's use. Named the Pinnacle Junior line, PowerStep offers a 3/4-length insole and a full-length insole, with sizes designed to fit from a toddler's shoes all the way through youth sizes.
No chart necessary here: The Pinnacle Junior Full-Length offers full-length support and cushioning and is designed to fully replace the insoles in your child's shoes, whereas the Pinnacle Junior 3/4 offers 3/4-length support and are designed to be placed on top of the factory insoles in your child's shoes.
PowerStep Pulse
The Pulse line of PowerStep insoles take select styles of the Pinnacle insoles and adds extra cushioning through the use of modified materials and are designed primarily for high-impact activities.
Given the higher price point of the Pulse products, combined with the fact that the Pulse don't offer heel or ball-of-foot strike padding, we believe the Pinnacle insoles to be a significantly better option for those considering the Pulse product line.
PowerStep Pro-Tech
The ProTech line of PowerStep insoles again takes the Pinnacle line of insoles and makes several modifications designed for sale exclusively by podiatrists. Aside from a few materials changes, the only major difference between the Pro-Tech and Pinnacle insoles is the Poron heel cushion built into the top layer of the Pro-Tech insoles.
Discontinued PowerStep Insoles
Over the years, PowerStep has elected to discontinue select styles of their insole lineup, often due to poor sales performance, redundancy within the product line, or to make way for a new product. We'll compile as complete a list as possible for your reference:
