HSA & FSA FAQs
HSA/FSA Payments
How do I use my HSA/FSA account to pay?
How do I use my HSA/FSA account to pay?
The Insole Store has partnered with Gale, an industry-leading IRS-compliant Certified HSA/FSA Payment Provider, to process HSA/FSA payments for eligible items.
To use your HSA/FSA payment card to pay for your order, simply select "Gale HSA & FSA Payments" as your payment method during checkout. You'll be taken to Gale's secure payment portal to complete your purchase using your HSA/FSA payment card.
What if my order contains non-HSA/FSA eligible products?
What if my order contains non-HSA/FSA eligible products?
If your order contains some HSA/FSA-eligible items and some non-eligible items, you can still use Gale during checkout. Gale will prompt you to enter your HSA/FSA card for payment of the HSA/FSA-eligible items and a separate payment method for payment of the non-eligible items.
Can I bill my insurance company for non-eligible items?
Can I bill my insurance company for non-eligible items?
While you can't bill your insurance provider directly, you can submit your purchase as a claim for reimbursement so long as you can demonstrate the necessity of your purchase (often, a doctor's note or Letter of Medical Necessity will suffice).
If you plan to submit your purchase as a claim for reimbursement, we recommend completing checkout using Gale as your payment method even if your order doesn't contain HSA/FSA-eligible items. Gale will provide you with an itemized receipt after purchase that can be used to more easily submit your purchase for a reimbursement claim.
Note: The Insole Store cannot guarantee that your claim will be honored or reimbursed.
What if my HSA/FSA payment was declined?
What if my HSA/FSA payment was declined?
While most HSA/FSA eligible items are automatically approved for payment via your HSA/FSA account, we cannot always guarantee that this will be the case.
If your HSA/FSA payment was declined, you will need to reach out to your HSA/FSA provider for additional information. The Insole Store has no visibility into why an HSA/FSA payment was approved or declined.
Product Eligibility
What does HSA/FSA eligibility mean?
What does HSA/FSA eligibility mean?
Products that are HSA/FSA approved (or HSA/FSA eligible) have been fully authorized for purchase using an HSA/FSA payment account. For items that are HSA/FSA-eligible, your purchase of these items using your HSA/FSA payment account should be automatically approved.
Items that are not HSA/FSA approved aren't necessarily excluded from purchase using HSA/FSA payment. However, non-eligible items may require additional documentation, such as a doctor's note or Letter of Medical Necessity, in order for your account provider to issue payment.
What products are HSA/FSA-approved?
What products are HSA/FSA-approved?
Our HSA & FSA Eligible Products collection is updated monthly to ensure that all HSA/FSA-eligible items on our website are listed on one place. You can use the shopping filters to narrow your selection by product category, brand, and more.
You can also identify products that are HSA/FSA-eligible by the "HSA/FSA accepted" badge that will appear below the price within the product details for eligible items.
How is product eligibility determined?
How is product eligibility determined?
SIGIS is the organization responsible for approving items for HSA/FSA eligibility. Our list of eligible products is based on the SIGIS Eligible Products List, which is updated each month by SIGIS.
The Insole Store is a member of SIGIS, but has no say in which products are/are not approved for HSA/FSA eligibility. However, if you believe that a product has been excluded which should be included, we can submit a recommendation to SIGIS. Simply contact us for details.
What if a product is missing from your eligible products list?
What if a product is missing from your eligible products list?
The SIGIS Eligible Products List is reviewed monthly and released on the 15th of each month with any updates. We try our best to ensure that our own list matches the current SIGIS EPL, but eligible products should always have the "HSA/FSA Eligible" badge so long as that product remains on the SIGIS EPL.
Still, if you see a product that is not in our list that you believe is either already on the SIGIS EPL or should be included in future SIGIS EPL releases, please let us know. We're more than happy to review the eligibility according to SIGIS and submit the product for future consideration where feasible.
