Teachers spend a lot of time on their feet each and every day, both standing for long periods of time and walking from one part of the school to another throughout the course of their day. Since most classroom and school floors tend to be hard tile, and since the average teacher workday can be long, this all adds up to create an environment that is particularly unfriendly to your feet. Since some school days can be stressful all on their own, the added stress from enduring sore feet is often the last thing you need to deal with.
The good news is that a good pair of insoles can genuinely help alleviate much of the foot fatigue you may otherwise endure. Simply by ensuring that your feet have the support they need while also providing your feet with extra cushioning and shock absorption, you can end each day with your feet feeling happy and comfortable. But what makes an insole good for teachers?
- The insoles should provide good heel and arch support. This will ensure that your foot remains supported throughout your day and will help distribute pressure more evenly across your entire foot to eliminate sore spots.
- The insoles should also have a good amount of cushioning throughout. This will help alleviate foot pressure while also working to help absorb impact shock on the foot, reducing or preventing foot fatigue.
- The insoles should work for both standing and for walking, since your day-to-day will likely involve both.
Depending on your specific footwear, there may need to be additional considerations for the shape/style of the insole as well. Most insoles will fit well in sneakers or other similar shoes that are moderately roomy and have removable insoles. A thinner insole might be required in flats, loafers, and other similar dress shoes, and a 3/4-length insole might be required for high heels and platform shoes.
